Patients suffering mental illness, intolerable pain and health deterioration
Long waiting times for treatment in Wales are having a devastating effect on some patients and their families, it has been warned.
The Board of Community Health Councils (CHCs) in Wales listened to patient experiences and found issues ranging from mental health problems and family breakdown to long-term reliance on pain killers.
The report said current waiting time targets are not meaningful and are not providing assurance to the public nor driving sustained improvement.
It added that the failure to meet targets has become an accepted norm
